| Extrusion |
| |
Micro Crystalline Cellulose was mixed
with Lactose and a dry mixture was prepared. |
| |
Solution of 3% HPMC in water was prepared-
the total quantity being 470ml. The above material was
hand mixed in the blend & dough was prepared. |
| |
The material was extruded through a 1.0mm
die roller. |
| |
Output observed was 13-14 kg/hr. |
| |
| Spher'oidization |
| |
Extrudes were spher'oidized on the spher'oidizer
with 3.25mm. chequered plate for an approximate time
of 3-4 minutes. The r.p.m. of the machine had to be
accordingly adjusted between 650 - 700 R.P.M.. Uniform
pellets were formed. |
| |
|
| Result |
| |
It was good & seive analysis showed
that 95% of the beads were of 975 - 1000 micron range.
|
| |
After this basic formulation of the pellets,
they are dried and further coated as per the requirement.
|
| |
The beads had a smooth surface, which
enabled uniform coating. The uniformity of the beads
achieved in one batch could be achieved in the other
batches too. This ensures uniform coating not only for
one batch but also from batch to batch. |

Some of the products converted to pellets
in the extruder & spheroidizer was possible
